About 1875, Mary and A. L. Bell, along with their children, their daughter's husband, and other members of the Bell and Free families, migrated to Texas. A. L. and Mary Bell settled in Travis County near Manor. Other family members settled in various parts of the state.
The Bells became prominent members of the Manor community. They helped raise the children of their daughter, Alice. Their two sons became successful businessmen.
Mary C. Bell died in Manor in 1910. Her husband lived until 1921.
