She was born May 12, 1935, in Savannah to Homer Louis and Florence Margaret (Burnham) Sipes. Mary was a child care attendant at North Kansas City Child Care and in her home. She was a member of Savannah United Methodist Church. Mary had a great love for her family and grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her father; two sons, Jeffery L. and Byron Ray McCallon; a daughter, Margaret Cherie McCallon; two brothers, Ralph and Johnny Sipes; two sisters, Rebecca Crumbaker and Betty JoAnn Sipes.
Survivors include her mother, Florence Sipes of Savannah; four sons, Clifford McCallon, Charles McCallon and Danny Hurst, all of Kansas City, and Willis Hurst of Linn Creek, Mo.; two daughters, Mary Ann McVay of Liberty, Mo. and Shelly Tneussien of New Finland, Holland; five brothers, Jack Sipes of Louisville, Ky., Roy Sipes of Savannah, Louis Dean Sipes of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gilbert Sipes of Helena, Mo., David Sipes of Jefferson City, Mo.; three sisters, Nancy Farmer of Kansas City, Christy Sipes and Carol Sipes, both of Savannah; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009, at Savannah United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Savannah Cemetery, Savannah, Mo. Public viewing and family receiving hours 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah.
