Charlie (sometimes he was called "Tucker")was the third child born to John Wesley King and his wife, Margaret Elizabeth "Betty" Terrell. He married Sarah Alice, "Sallie" Beavers on May 12, 1894 in Lawrence County.They had eleven children, and they were the maternal grandparents of the late Virgil "Gus" Grissom, one of the early astronauts in the NASA program.
