Williamsfield, IL - Cleo Gray, 83, a resident of the Knox County Nursing Home, formerly of Williamsfield, died at 11:05 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at the home in Knoxville.

Cleo was born Jan. 12, 1925, in Aledo, Ill., the daughter of Willie and Pearl (Mosher) Murphy. She married Lester O. Gray on Nov. 21, 1959, in Knoxville.

He survives, as do three stepchildren, Judy (Leo) Johnson, Michael Gray and Floyd K. (Merle Ann) Gray, all of Williamsfield; three step grandsons; one step great-granddaughter; a sister, Betty Lou Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Delmar Armstrong; and three sisters, Stella Malone, Jenny Calvert and Shirley Secrist.

Cleo attended Salem School and Williamsfield High School.

She was a member of the Elmore Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for 40 years. She was also a member of the Williamsfield Auxiliary.

She taught kindergarten when it was in the basement of the Baird Building.

Her hobbies included collecting dolls and tea pots. She baked and decorated cakes for several years and enjoyed gardening.

Burial will be in Williamsfield Cemetery.
