Funeral services for Clark Monroe Whitaker were held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 1947 at the First Baptist church at 3 o'clock conducted by Rev. M.E. McGlamery of Dallas. Mr. Whitaker passed away at his home at 11:15 p.m. Aug. 11, 1947. He was born March 1, 1867, in Mississippi but had made his home in Wills Point for the past 23 years. Mr. Whitaker became affiliated with the Baptist church in 1902. Surviving relatives include his wife, Mrs. Dora J. Whitaker; 4 sons, W.M. Whitaker of Lubbock; S.P. Whitaker of Paris; L.E. Whitaker of Orange and H.V. Whitaker; one daughter, Mrs. Bettie Allen of Paris and a host of Grandchildren. Pallbearers were Todd Ezell George Boswell, Dr. Alves Estes, A.W. Murray, John Samford and Jack Funderburk. Interment was in White Rose cemetery under the direction of Williams funeral directors.
