Robert Munroe Whitaker was a saddle maker. He served the C.S.A. by making saddles for the cavalry. He migrated from N.C. to Tennessee, then to Alabama, to Mississippi, and lastly to Lamar Co., Tx. where at least seven of his children and their families migrated. He became blind in his old age and had to use a cane. He was a member of W.O.W. Lodge which erected a Woodsmen Monument on his grave which has since been destroyed by a tornado. He is buried at McDonalds Cem., ten miles south of Paris, Tx. His 3rd wife Ruth Ann Gooker/Gocher was 1/2 American Indian, so their children were eligible for land grants in Oklahoma.
