Thomas Franklin Rowland, (Uncle Tom), age 90, died early Monday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. F. Davis, of the Mashburn Station Community, Route 4, Athens.

He was the son of the late Phillip and Susan Lattimore Rowland; a native of McMinn County and for many years lived in the Jones Chapel Community. He was a former employee of L&N Railroad and Sport-Wear Hosiery Mill in Etowah an a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. R. F. (Vesta) Davis, Athens and Mrs. Boskey (Pearl) Lemons, Cleveland; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Parthenia Crittenden, Orlando, Fla; one half-sister, Mrs. Mattie Boyd of Waco, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Wildwood Baptist Church with the Revs. Horace Adkins, Jack Bryan and Clyde Crook officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Interment will be in Double Springs Cemetery.

The body will remain at the Quisenberry-Laycock Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Monday and Tuesday nights.
