Mary Kirby was born at the High Leys farm in Rievaulx, Yorkshire, England to Thomas Kirby and Ann Richardson on 3 Apr 1808. Mary married Jonah Hawkins on 21 Jun 1830 in the neighboring town of Helmsley. The Hawkins family moved to Guelph, Ontario Canada in 1836, and settled in Eramosa, Ontario, Canada in 1840. Jonah and Mary Hawkins had 8 children: Robert, Joseph, John, Harriet, James, Thomas, William, and Sarah. Mary died at the age of 71 in Apr 1880, and is buried at Eden Mills Cemetery in Eramosa. No gravestone.
