Her name is spelled "Clarrissa" on her headstone, but most sources spell it "Clarissa." Calvin and Clarissa travelled from New York to Ohio, and then to Illinois before settling in Oregon. Their son and daughter, Calvin Powell and Clarissa Powell Porter remained in the midwest (Iowa) while the rest of the family travelled the Oregon Trail to Oregon in 1853.
