Melvin F. J. Meier, son of Edward and Maria Wacker Meier was born June 15, 1929. On December 18, 1950 he was called to active duty with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1952. He was a construction worker and helped his father with farming. He moved to Lincoln with his parents in 1973. He continued to work as a farm laborer and also as a grain inspector for the State of Kansas. Melvin passed away on May 31, 1999.
