Larinda A Meili, 84, lifetime resident of Lincoln, Kansas passed away November 4, 2016 at Alma, NE. Larinda was born December 6, 1931 in Lincoln County, the daughter of Henry William Edward and Clara Marie Matilda (Wacker) Meier. Larinda was the 3rd of 14 children. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lincoln, KS. She attended Elkhorn District #78 Country School and St. Paul’s Lutheran School through 8th grade. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951. Following graduation she was employed at Murphy’s Cafe and then joined the staff at Lincoln County Hospital as a nurse’s aid. She was united in marriage to William R Meili on April 18, 1954. They raised 5 children on their farm south of Lincoln. Larinda was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. Each member of her family has a quilt or an afghan lovingly made by her. She was always making noodles or baking pies or cookies and trying new recipes. Making Christmas candy for her family and friends gave her great joy.
Larinda was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, brother Melvin Meier, sisters, Regina Henry and Bernice Kruse, infant siblings, Robert, Dorothy and Hubert.
Left to celebrate her life are three son’s, Gary (Carrie) Meili of Lincoln, Larry (Rita) Meili of Phillipsburg and Doug (Janet) Meili of Overland Park, two daughters Joyce (Bob) Bunch of Phillipsburg and Sharon (Rick) Hiss of Great Bend.
6 grandchildren: Billie Meili and fiancé Brad Plett, Bettendorf, IA, Travis (Becky) Meili, Gardner, KS, Vicki (Brice) Korobka, Phillipsburg, KS, Bethany (Roy) Jessup, Phillipsburg, Cody (Kimberly) Meili, Phillipsburg. Amy Bunch (Bow Casper), Alma, NE.
13 great-grandchildren:
Isaac, Isabella, Jude, Daniel and Elijah Meili, Gardner, Gracie and William Jessup, Phillipsburg, Trace and Brooke Hanchett and Locke Korobka, Phillipsburg, Kalinda and Katlin Meili of Phillipsburg and Lily Casper, Alma, NE.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, November 5, at the Lincoln Cemetery with Pastor Benjamin Siebert officiating.
Her life will be honored with a Memorial Service at St John Lutheran Church, Lincoln, KS on Saturday, November 26, at 11:00 AM. Memorials may be given to the church.
