Johnnie was the son of Joseph Pfeaster and Clara Yearian.
Johnnie entered the Army on May 10, 1918, reporting to Jefferson Barracks, Mo. He was attached to Co. E, 32nd Infantry, 7th Division; transferred to Camp MacArthur 18 May and attached to 8th Cas. Co. on July 10; transferred to Prov. Guard Det. 2 on Aug. 15; He made Pvt. 1st class; advanced to Corporal on Jan. 1, 1919; discharged from Camp Dodge Mar. 4, 1919.
On Sep. 8, 1927, John married Tressie Rutherford in Lancaster, Mo. He and Tressie appear in the 1930 census of Monroe Township, Mahaska County, Iowa. They were later divorced in about 1933.
John later married Marian (Buttolph) Hickle of Riceville.
He was an odd jobs laborer. His last known address was Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
