William Loven, 82, of Decorah, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998, at Oneota Riverview Care FAcility.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 11 am, at the Glenwood Lutheran Church of rural Decorah, with the REv. Bernie Oesber officiating.
Connie Bolson was the organist. The congregation sang "Abide with Me" & "Nearer My God to Thee." Special greetings were given by Wayne Wasta.
Casket bearers were Jack Allison, Jerome Allison, Jim Allison, Richard Loven, Jeff Ode, & Giles Teslow.
Burial was at the Glenwood South Cemetery with full military rites by Helof-Holm VFW Post No. 1977 & Bernatz-Symonds American Legion Post No. 163.

William was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Rushford, MN, the son of Albert & Anna (Fortun) Loven. He attended Waukon High School.
He served in the US Air Force during WWII as a mechanic stationed in Korea. After the war, he stayed in the service as a career. William became a staff sergeant.
He recieved the American Theater Service Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Good conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, & Bronze Service Star.
After retiring from the Air Force, William worked on several farms in the Decorah area. During his later years, he resided at Oneota Riverview Care Facility. He never married.
William was a lifelong member of Glenwood Lutheran Church. He was baptized there Dec. 13, 1916, & confirmed there April 26, 1931.
Survivors include 3 sisters, Margaret & Leonard Feuerhelm of Waukon, Irene Allison of Waukon, & Evelyn & Lester Ode of Decorah.
William was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Marion Loven, & 2 brothers, Vernon & Roger Loven.
