A residence and mill for a Col. Alexander were located at the bottom left corner of this map. These locations might have been for Col. George Alexander of this memorial page, who married Margaret Harris.

The Indian Trading Paths were drawn clearly on this map, with a thin double line. Many roadways and interstate highways in modern America were built on top of the original Indian trading paths.

Note the "Meeting House" on this map, which was to the northeast of Col. Alexander's farm. Colonial era Presbyterian churches were called Meeting Houses, not churches.

Col. Alexander had a headstone and grave site at the original McClure Cemetery, which were relocated to the new McClures Cemetery in 1997.

It is possible that the original McClure Cemetery was located near the Meeting House on this map, since most of the Presbyterian churches of that era had a cemetery located outside of the church building.

The Meeting House building near Batten was not the same as the Fort Dobbs building, which was located due north of Oliphants Mill. The Meeting House was mentioned in Gov. Tryon's journal:
"Remains of an old Log Fort built by the Inhabitants to stop the incursions of the Indians in the last War."

This journal mentioned above documented a summer tour done by Governor Tryon, as he traveled southwest of Salisbury to speak to members of the Cherokee Nation, as well as his settlers in NC. On page 1006, this online refers to visiting the Millers of Tyger Creek, the South Fork of the Tyger River, the Enoree River, Darbin's Creek, the Reedy River, and a branch of the Fair Forest:

The Fort Dobbs site can be seen on the full version of the map above, where it was located due north of Oliphants Mill. Also see "M. Fiffer's" farm which was probably Mr. Phifer's farm near the modern day city of Concord.

Back when Col. George Alexander was the Colonel of the Mecklenburg Militia, his distant cousin named Moses Alexander of memorial page #130703139 served as the Lieutenant Colonel of the same unit.
