James E. Tracy, 76, of 1023 Angelus Drive, Nekoosa, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. The Rev. Mary Anne Biggs will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Nekoosa. Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
James was born July 13, 1931, in Madison. He married Betty Sarver on Jan. 13, 1951, in Decorah, Iowa. She died June 1, 1984. He then married Betty Gilman on Dec. 30, 1985, in Wisconsin Rapids.
James was employed at Nekoosa Papers Inc. (Domtar) for many years, retiring as the assistant paper mill superintendent. After formal retirement, James was a consultant for the mill.
James served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. as a medic.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of Wisconsin Rapids; two sons, Thomas Tracy of Wisconsin Rapids, and Joel (Cindy) Tracy of Marblehead, Mass.; two stepsons, Jimmy Stewart of Clay, Ky., and David Stewart of Scottsburg, Ind.; four stepdaughters, Rhonda (John) Knoll, Brenda Engstrand, Lori Ward and Lisa Devers, all of Wisconsin Rapids; seven grandchildren, Layla (Donny) Winkelman of Wisconsin Rapids, Joshua (Kate) Tracy of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cory Tracy of Oshkosh, Matthew Tracy of Wisconsin Rapids, Scott Tracy of Hartland, Justin Tracy of Menasha, and Sheldon (Wendy) Hanneman of Mukwonago; eight great-grandchildren, Koen, Easton, Kieran, Elena, Brandy, Jessie, Colton and Gavin; many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel Spranger of Wisconsin Rapids.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty; son, Daniel; and five brothers and sisters.
