Daniel Steven Coonfer, 41, of Manito, passed away Friday, March 10, 2023 at UnityPoint Health – Methodist in Peoria.

Born November 15, 1981 in Belleville at Scott Air Force Base, he was the son of Craig S. and Vicki L. (Mitzelfelt) Coonfer.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Vicki and William Burke of Manito; his father, Craig Coonfer of Manito; his daughter, Izabella, her brothers, Tony, Lucas and Jaekob, all of whom he loved as his own; two sisters, Nicole (John) Mefford of Berrien Springs, Michigan and Kathryn Smith of Manito; one stepbrother, Brandon (Lindsey) Burke of Pooler, Georgia; one stepsister, Brittany (Adam) Whisler of Manito; his maternal grandparents, Darlene Mitzelfelt and Howard Heck, both of Pekin and his paternal grandparents, Don and Liz Coonfer of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. He also leaves his uncle, Scott (Patti) Mitzelfelt of Manito; and four aunts, Cindy (Kevin) Flick of Vienna, Cathy (Roger) Meeker of Pekin, Cheryl Earnest of North Carolina and Cari (Byron) Followell of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Don Mitzelfelt and a cousin, Robin Cooper.

Daniel was a 2000 graduate of Midwest Central High School.

Daniel was born with a heart condition but he didn't allow it to prevent him from enjoying life. Daniel loved being outdoors. In his spare time you could find him at the lake with fishing pole in hand. Besides fishing Daniel enjoyed camping trips with his dad, skiing, riding motorcycles and dirt biking.

Private graveside services will be held Friday, March 17, 2023 at Meadow Lawn Cemetery in Manito.
