"Frank Bishop Everhart, one of the best known farmers and residents of the town of Butler, died at his home two miles southeast of West Butler at 3 a. m. Sunday, aged 68 years, 3 months and 1 day. Mr. Everhart had been in failing health for some time. A number of weeks ago he had an attack of pneumonia, and was very ill, but recovered. On Saturday he seemed in his usual health, when stricken by a cerebral hemorrhage. This left him with one arm helpless and unable to swallow. Dr. J. N. Robertson was summoned. As he could take no medicine, about all that could be done was to apply ice to his head. In the night his breathing became irregular and labored, and at 3 o'clock he passed away. Perhaps there was a second hemorrhage, or possibly this was merely the cumulative effects of the first, which was very severe. Mr. Everhart was a son of the late
Henry L. and Eunice Bishop Everhart of Butler, and was born in Galen, though he had been a resident of Butler for a quarter of a century. In his immediate family he is survived by his wife, a son, Bert, and a daughter, Miss Mabel Everhart, all at home. He also leaves a brother, Foist H. Everhart of Butler and Wolcott; an uncle, William H. Everhart of Butler, and an aunt, Mrs. Jane Teeter of Ithaca, besides other relatives. The deceased was a justice of the peace at the time of his death, had served as supervisor several terms and was prominent in politics in Butler. He was a lifelong Republican and had many friends in this section. Mr. Everhart was a good citizen and highly esteemed in the community. The largely-attended funeral was held from the house at 2 p. m., Wednesday, interment being made in the family lot in the Clyde cemetery. The Rev. Mr. Johnson of the South Butler Methodist church, officiated." (Jan. 22, 1958, The Lake Shore News of Wolcott, NY)
