Son of Ernest and Cora Waters Bailey. He was a graduate of Dawson County High School and the University of Georgia. After living throughout the southeast as an executive with the Boy Scouts of America, he retired and returned with his wife, Sue, to Dawsonville. He enjoyed his retirement driving a school bus for Dawson County Schools. A longtime member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, he served on the Finance Committee, Building Committee, and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Georgia Cattlemen's Association. He was predeceased by his parents; wife of fifty-eight years, Sue Styles Bailey; and brother, Ray Bailey. Surviving are his children, Barbara Catoe (Mark), Jennifer Pappas (Jimmy), and Michael Bailey; grandchildren, Rebecca Guthrie (Cameron), Ben Catoe, Eleni Morrow (Brant), Carly Pappas (Dmitriy), Katie Baggett (Jonathan), and Kurt Bailey; two great grandchildren, Charlotte and Parker Guthrie; and brother, Hubert Bailey
