Ruth Gamboe Dies Thursday of Heart Attack
Mrs. Ruth Gamboe, 51, well known resident of this city, died unexpectedly of a heart attack at her home on Main Street Thursday morning November 10.
The daughter of the late North J. and Jessie Fairchild Price, she was born in Paintsville August 16, 1909, and had been a lifelong resident of this city. She was a member of the First methodist Church.
Possessed of a genial personality, always gay and cheerful, Ruth will be missed by her many friends and neighbors whose affection and regard were reflected in the beautiful floral offerings and the many visitors who called at the home.
She was married May 1, 1924, to Floyd Gamboe, who survives.
Also surviving are four sons, James Gamboe, U.S. Air Force, Travis AFB, Calif.; Edward J. Gamboe, Paintsville; Billy Ray Gamboe, U.S. Army, Ft. Knox; Gene David Gamboe, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Sue Shannon, Ft. Myers, Florida; two half sisters, Mrs. Vada Pendleton, New Boston, Ohio; Mrs. Clara Wells, Paradise, Montana.
Funeral services were conducted at 10:00 a.m., Monday from the First Methodist Church with Rev. Hugh Smith, pastor officiating.
Pallbearers were Mike Minix, Mike Craft, Len Franklin, Robert Jones, Doug Hamilton and John Daniel.
Burial was in the Winchester Cemetery at Winchester.
