Leroy Alfred George, seventy-seven years of age, passed away on February 25, 2008.

He was the first born child of Bertha Edwards and James George Jr.

He was educated in the Saint Helena Parish Public School system. After moving to Baton Rouge, he began his own roofing business.

In 1953, he married the late Roetelia Lyle and to this union six children were born. In 1989, he married Mary Thomas and became step-father to her three children.

He loved to travel and enjoyed traveling with his brother Robert Lee George and together they visited many countries. He loved to debate and never admitted being wrong.

He is survived by his second wife, Mary Thomas George; a daughter, Gwendolyn George; two step-daughters, Emma Jean (Wiggin) Spooner and Rosemarice Collins; four sons, Ricky (Ada) George, David (Linda) George, Calvin (Brenda) George, and Elton (Victoria) George; a step-son, Donald Ray Thomas; fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Myrtis George Snell ; one brother, Robert Lee (Margaret)George; and an aunt, Laura George Sanfie.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents; a son, Leroy George Jr; a sister, Ethel George Denham; granddaughter, Artrician Michelle George; and a grandson, Jeremy George.
