On February 26th, 2023, Ernestina Rodriguez, a devoted mother of eight children, loving faithful wife, sister to God's children, and friend, passed away at the age of 94 years old. She was the second of three children born to David and Estefana Sanchez on the eighth of May 1928 in El Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico.

Ernestina grew up in the farming community of El Mulato, under the care of her father, David, and missing her mother, Estefana, who passed away during the birth of their third child. She and her sister Magdalena were also raised by their paternal grandmother Jesusita Sanchez and the family of Teodoro and Margarita Sanchez, her aunt and uncle, growing up as one of their own along with their 12 children.

Ernestina studied and finished the education that was available in her small farming community, completing the sixth grade and obtaining other certificates in the study of English that became available to her when she moved to Sinton, Texas and later in Laredo, Texas.

In 1956, Ernestina listened to the gospel of Christ, obeyed, and was baptized becoming a member of the Church of Christ and serving the Lord for the rest of her life. It was during this time that she met the love of her life and became engaged to Valente Rodriguez. On October 6th of that year, they became husband and wife. Evangelizing took them to live in Ojinaga, the city of Chihuahua, and Monterrey, all of this in Mexico. In 1969, Valente was given the opportunity to become the preacher of the Church of Christ in Sinton, Texas. Since Ernestina was an American citizen, they moved the family and worked there for 3 years before moving to Laredo in 1972. In Laredo, a congregation was established, and the family lived there until 1984 before moving to San Angelo, TX then finally moving to Houston, TX in 1989. Ernestina spent her life working alongside her husband, Valente. They were dedicated to raising their family and serving the Lord in His church.

Left to cherish Ernestina's memory are her husband of 66 years of marriage, Valente Rodriguez, son Pablo Rodriguez and wife Irma, daughter Ana Cardoso and Marty, Jaime Rodriguez and wife Alma, Jorge Rodriguez and wife Roxy, son David Rodriguez, son Hector Rodriguez, and son Roberto Rodriguez and wife Kristina. She is also survived by her cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ernestina was preceded in death by her parents David Sanchez and Estefana Herrera Sanchez, sister Magdalena Gomez, Aunt Margarita Mendoza, Uncle Teodoro Sanchez, and daughter Graciela Rodriguez.

Ernestina's memory will remain in the hearts of her devoted husband, sons and daughter, brothers and sisters in Christ, cousins, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces, as well as many friends.
