Caroline was a daughter of William and Elizabeth (nee Shephard) of Somersetshire.
She married John Hooper in England when she was 24 and he was 34 - she was his 2nd wife. See his bio at the link below...
She emigrated with him and baby William to New Zealand in June 1841 aboard the ARAB. She had another baby on board and called her Elizabeth but Elizabeth died aged 1 week and was buried at sea.
Also with her were the 4 children of John's first marriage (a son, Robert had died aged 3).
John's oldest child, Sarah was 14 at the time of emigration. She died a month into the voyage (and 2 days after the death of the new born Elizabeth) off the coast of Africa and was also buried at sea.
They had another 11 children in New Zealand, making a total of 13 for Caroline and 18 for John.
