Edward Childress Jr. Sheriffs deputy The funeral for Edward Childress Jr. of Decatur, a deputy with the Fulton Sheriffs Department, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at True Light Baptist Church, with burial at Kennedy Memorial Gardens. Mr. Childress, 39, died of heart failure Sunday at his home. Surviving are his wife, Meda Dix Childress; a son, E. Ryan Childress of Decatur; a daughter, Mia L. Childress of Decatur; his mother, Jessie Mae Covington Hurt of Atlanta; his father, Edward Childress Sr. of Birmingham; two brothers, DeMarcus and Martinez Childress, both of Birmingham; a sister, Sylvia A. Childress of Atlanta; and a stepdaughter, LaRhonda S. Fletcher of Decatur.
