Obituary of Mr. Albert Miehe
Our departed brother, Mr. Albert Miehe, son of Frederick and Sophie Kenneker Miehe, was born near Maynard, Iowa on May 7th 1877.
Soon after his birth his christian parents brought him to Holy Baptism, so that he became a child of God and an heir of Eternal Life. He received instruction in the principles of the Christian Faith and was confirmed by Pastor E.F. Warnke, at Hope Lutheran Church, near Westgate.
On April 12, 1899, he was united in marriage with Miss Clara Sundermeyer at Peosta, Iowa. This union was blessed with six children, one of these Erna, preceded the Father in death. They first made their home on a farm southwest of Maynard until 1943 when they retired, and moved to Maynard. Here they were privileged to observe their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1949.
On June 3, 1950 his wife passed away, but he continued to live in the home until December 1954 when he sold the home. Since then he made his home chiefly with his children.
Throughout his life he has been a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Maynard.
On last Sunday he suffered a heart attack and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, where he passed away on Wednesday morning, April 20, 1955 at 7:30. His age was 77 years, 11 months and 13 days.
He is survived by three daughters, Freda, now Mrs. Raymond Graf of Oelwein; Edna, now Mrs. Wm. Weltzin of Morrison, Illinois; Mrs. Florence Odell of Maynard; two sons, Harold and Ernest both of Maynard. 14 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; two brothers Theodore of Maynard, and John of Oelwein.
May he rest in peace.
