Carolyn was born on June 7,1938 in Monroe, Louisiana. She moved to Shreveport at a young age and has resided in Shreveport ever since. She graduated from Fair Park High School in 1956. Through the years, she still remained in close contact with her Fair Park Ladies.

Following high school, she attended business school and was a secretary when she met the love of her life, Bobby, on a blind date on New Year's Eve 1958. Following their marriage, Carolyn raised three children, ran a household, and served her church faithfully. At Brookwood Baptist Church, she taught and served in the preschool department for more than 50 years. For many years, she enjoyed playing a weekly game of Maj Jong with her friends. In her later years, Carolyn enjoyed spending time with her four grandchildren.
