Mr. Charles Edward Akins, age 81, of Austell, GA passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

He was born in Columbus, GA on March 21, 1941, a son of the late Jesse Akins and the late Lillie Mae Smith Akins. Mr. Akins loved God, his church and this country. He had had a great love for his family and he enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly. Mr. Akins had worked for the railroad and was a retired painter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Betty Smith Akins on April 3, 2018; by brothers: Elmer Gene Akins, William Jesse Akins, Thomas Alton Akins, Waymon Junior Akins and a sister Etta Dick.

Survivors include his three children and their spouses; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters; a brother; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Bell officiating. Interment will follow in the Aragon Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Levi Matthews, Jimmy Dick, Donnie Davis, Bill Worley, Dayton Payne and Brad Newberry. Rayford Akins will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm Alvis Miller & Son Funeral Home.
