William L. (Bill) Silliman, Sr. 86, of Jacksonville, North Carolina passed away peacefully at his home on February 19, 2023.
Bill was born on November 11, 1936, in Rochester, NY to the late LCDR Ivan W. (US Navy) and Winona Silliman. He was one of five children.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Esther Mae Silliman, the youngest son, Donald T Silliman, his three brothers: Ivan Ward Silliman Jr. (USCG Aux), Frederick Silliman (US Army), Edward Silliman and Sister: Charlotte Silliman (US Army).
Bill was an SN in the United States Navy: from 1954 to 1959.
Left to cherish his memories are his eldest son, (US Navy) William (Lester) Silliman Jr. (Donna) of Hayes, VA; and daughter, Barbara A. Silliman-Marshburn (Ted) of Jacksonville, three grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
For many, many years, and was also a dedicated and faithful contributor to "Find a Grave.com" where he has added thousands of memorial photos not only from private family cemeteries from around Jacksonville and Richlands but, also memorial photos from Onslow Memorial Park and Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Bill also volunteered with a National Group called the Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness.
Funeral services and interment will take place at 12:00 pm at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on April 19, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Lower Cape Fear Life Care at 1414 Physicians Dr. Wilmington NC 28401.
