Theadore I Shaffer, 89, of LeRoy passed away Wednesday February 22, 2023, at Heritage Health Nursing Home. Graveside service will be Tuesday February 28, 2023, at 11:00 am in Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, IL. Memorial donations may be made to Ruel Neal Post 79 LeRoy American Legion.

Ted was born September 11, 1933 in Bloomington, IL to Harlan and Lena (McDowell) Shaffer. He married Helen Rosella Feb. 25, 1970 in Downs, IL.

Ted was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. When Ted was younger, he loved riding motorcycles all day. He worked as a local painter in the LeRoy/Downs area. He loved to whittle wood, make clocks, and spend time in his garden. For many years you could find him playing in the band "Jessie and the Country City Limits."

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two daughters Carmen Hays and Patricia Zimmerman.

Graveside service will be Tuesday February 28, 2023, at 11:00 am in Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, IL.
