GOESSEL — Betty S. Epp, 87, of Goessel passed away Friday (Jan. 18, 2008) at Newton Medical Center.
She was born June 1, 1920, in Dubois, Idaho, to Alvin and Mary (Isaak) Schmidt.
She married Aaron J Epp on June 1, 1944, in Buhler. She served in ministry alongside her husband in Inman; Chicago; Reedley, Calif.; Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Goessel; Aberdeen, Idaho; and Cuauhtemoc, Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1992.
She was a member of the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, Goessel Women's Christian Organization and the Willing Workers. She loved flowers and gardening and teaching Sunday School.
She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Myron) Schmidt and Mary (Jim) Schmidt, both of rural Goessel; a brother, Alfred Schmidt of Buhler; a sister, Rosa Mae Haugsness of Buhler; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Orlando Schmidt.
Burial was Tuesday at Alexanderwohl Cemetery in Goessel, followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mennonite Mission Network of MCUSA or Bethel College in care of the funeral home.
