Dea. Ebenezer Wright, s. of Sgt. Samuel Wright & Rebecca Craft, b. Nov. 2, 1696 at Wethersfield, Conn. He d. testate Sept. 2, 1766 at Stepney Parish (Chh. Rec.), now the Town of Rocky Hill, formerly the southern part of the Town of Wethersfield, Conn., Æ 70 (g.s.).

On Mar. 1, 1721/2 at Wethersfield, Ebenezer m. Sarah Butler, dau. of William Butler & Hannah Hills, b. Jan. 11, 1697/8 at Wethersfield. She was living on Oct. 12, 1764 when named in Ebenezer's will, but there is no record of her death. They had four children recorded at Wethersfield prior to the time when wife Sarah would have been only 30 years old. There is no current information they had additional children or that Ebenezer m. a second wife. At husband Ebenezer's death Sarah was 66 years old and it is likely she remained in Wethersfield residing with the family of her daughter Temperance. She may have possibly removed to Pittsfield, Mass. where sons William and Josiah were then residing. However, no reference can be found for her in the pre-Rev. War Pittsfield records.

Ebenezer's will dated Oct. 12, 1764 at Wethersfield and exhibited Oct. 7, 1766, was wit. by Ebenezer Goodrich, Joshua Goodrich, and Wait Goodrich. It names his wife Sarah and son-in-law Oliver Goodrich as executors, with the heirs as his wife Sarah, sons William and Josiah, and his son-in-law Oliver Goodrich (husb. of dau. Temperance Wright).

Dea. Ebenezer Wright and wife Sarah Butler had the following children b. of record at Wethersfield:

• i. William Wright, b. Oct. 11, 1722, d. testate in Apr. 1777 from smallpox at Pittsfield, Mass. His brother, Dea. Josiah Wright of Pittsfield, was executor of his estate. William m. 1) an unidentified Martha, by whom he had at least nine children named in his will, and she d. June 7, 1774 of consumption at Pittsfield. William m. 2) in Oct. 1774 at Gilead Parish (Hebron, Conn.), his twice widowed 2nd cousin Comfort (Coleman) (Goodrich) Post, dau. of John Coleman and Comfort Robbins, b. Aug. 24, 1727 at Wethersfield. She is likely the "Widow Wright" who d. in May 1789 at Pittsfield (Pitts. Ch. Rec.) Comfort m. 1) Apr. 20, 1749 at Bolton, Conn., Crafts Goodrich, s. of Moses and Hannah Goodrich of Wethersfield and Bolton, Conn.; he d. intestate Sept. 20, 1762 at Havana, Cuba during the French and Indian War, by whom she had six children at Bolton. Comfort m. 2) Sept. 23, 1767 at Bolton, Conn. as his 2nd wife, John Post, s. of Jordon Post and Phebe Lay, b. Nov. 10, 1723 at Hebron, Conn. He d. at Bolton May 26, 1773. There was one child of record by Comfort's second marriage, son Josiah Post. As Comfort was 47 years old when she m. William Wright, there are no known children by William Wright and Comfort Coleman.

• ii. Temperance Wright, b. May 29, 1724, d. Oct. 14, 1803 at Wethersfield, Æ 80 (g.s.); m. at Wethersfield June 23, 1740, Oliver Goodrich, s. of Capt. Ephraim Goodrich and his 2nd wife Jerusha Treat, b. Sept. 14, 1714 at Wethersfield. He d. Sept. 23, 1780 at Wethersfield, Æ 67. Nine children of the family.

• iii. Sarah Wright, b. Sept. 3, 1726, d. Jan. 14, 1757 at Wethersfield, Æ 31 (g.s.); m. Oct. 12, 1749 at Wethersfield as his first wife, Nicholas Cady. See Sarah's memorial for further information.

• iv. Dea. Josiah Wright, b. June 16, 1728, d. Apr. 16, 1806 at Pittsfield, Mass., Æ 78 (g.s.); m. 1) Dec. 21, 1749 at Wethersfield, Conn. his 3rd cousin, Elizabeth Robbins, dau. of Sgt. Richard Robbins and Mary Curtis, and wid. of Stephen Williams, Jr. She was b. July 4, 1723 at Wethersfield and d. Sept. 25, 1775 at Pittsfield, Mass., Æ 53 (g.s.) Nine children of the marriage. Josiah m. 2) by an intention at Pittsfield dated Apr. 5, 1777, the widow Theodocia Barker, dau. of Dr. Nathaniel Little & Mabel Woodbridge, b. Jan. 4, 1744/5 at Middletown, Conn. She d. Oct. 25, 1817 at Pelham, Mass. Five children by the second marriage.
