Education Board. The case of Miss Clara Meager, a pupil teacher in the Thorndon Infants'' School, who is unable to attend classes on account of the fact that she lives at the Taita, was considered. It was stated that although she could not attend class, she could obtain instruction from Mr. Lewis, of Thorndon School, for 4s per week. The Board decided not to pay for private instruction.

She was the second wife of Alfred Freeman Anstis (1868-1937), marrying him on 30 Oct 1923. Alfred first married Alice Mary Harris (1875-1923) in Christchurch 7 April 1893, daughter of James Harris of Timaru. He was a Gardener of 1 Myrtle Crescent., Lower Hutt in 1925. They divorced in 1906.
Alice died 22 June 1923 & Alfred & Clara married 30 Oct 1923

Hutt High School A very enjoyable ceremony took place in the Hutt District High School grounds on Thursday afternoon, the occasion being the breaking-up for the holidays.
During the evening the chairman of the school committee took the opportunity of presenting Mrs Anstis (nee Miss Meagre) with a salad bowl and Miss Sinclair with a rose bowl (both teachers had retired from the school, and, in doing so, spoke in high terms of the services rendered by them in service to the school.
