J.E. Cochran, age 88, of Blue Ridge, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at his home. He was born on May 2, 1934, in Blue Ridge, to the late James Gordon Cochran and Bonnie Ferrell Cochran. J.E. served in the United States Army, as sergeant, during the Korean War, where he was stationed in Germany. Later, he retired from Chemical Leman, where he worked for many years as a truck driver. J.E. was a member of Young's Chapel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F&AM.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Irene McVey, Pauline Stewart, Otis Cochran, Wendell Cochran, Glen Cochran, and Kenneth Cochran.

J.E. is survived by his wife of 65 years, Edith McFarland Cochran; children and their spouses, Gary and Marcia Cochran, Rita Cochran, Sharon and Jesse Davis, Mary and Jim Nixon, and Vicki and Larry Franklin; brothers, Johnny Cochran and Harold Ferrell; thirteen grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren,great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the Akins-Cobb Blue Ridge Chapel with Rev. Wallace Parks and Rev. Billy Cantrell officiating. Music will be provided by Nancy Watkins and Joel Collis. Masonic rites will be given by the Blue Ridge Lodge #67 F&AM. Military honors will be provided by the North Georgia Honor Guard. Interment will follow in the Young's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Deal, Nick Cloer, Eric Cochran, Tracy Cochran, Greg Cochran, Chris Woody, Bradley Thomas, and Michael Meschi. Honorary pallbearers will be John Stewart, Melvin Cole, Kenneth Petty, Charlie Cochran, Edgar Land, and Junior Farmer. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Condolences may be left for the family online at www.akinscobb.com.
