Jack Phelps Knight is actually Justin Phelps Knight who was born in Fulton, Whiteside, Illinois, his first wife died in 1906 and left him with two young boys, he couldn't take the pressure of raising two children and he left the area for Utah. Appears that he remarried and lived in the Murray area for the remainder of his life. As well as Jack P. Knight, he also went by John P. Knight. He married ? Lena (Arnold) Young, sometime after 1908 and before 1910, no children from this union, they were divorced before 1930, he worked for the same smelting company (American Smelting and Refining Company) from the time he arrived in Salt Lake City. His grandaughter Mary Ann has been searching for him for a long time.
