Born in Piney Grove, Houston Co., AL; son of Ruth Viola Napier and William Henry King. Career Army, serving one tour in Pearl Harbor before joining the 101st Airborne Infantry Division at Ft. Benning. Parachuted into Normandy France on D-Day 1944 and was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received after D-Day. Served a tour of duty in occupied Japan before being sent to Korea. His last three years of service before retirement in 1957 were spent in Germany. He married Mary Helen Loudermilk on 26 Jul 1940 and they were the parents of four sons and three daughters. Ernest died in Altamonte Spring, FL, but was buried beside his wife Helen in Carroll Memory Gardens, Carrollton, Carroll Co., GA.
