Gloriana (Azul) Manuel, 84, of Tucson, died about 8:30 p.pm on June 29, 2020. She had made her home with her daughter Yvonne who was her caretaker for six years.

She was born in Topawa to Sarah (Pablo) & Jose Antone Azul. She was a 1956 graduate of Ajo High School.

She was married to David Manuel, who worked for Phelps Dodge Corporation as a maintenance mechanic, and together they had six daughters and one son. They later divorced.

While she lived in Ajo, she worked as a cab-driver and as a teacher in Gu-Vo. She moved to Tucson in 1979. There she worked at Manor Baptist Church as a preschool teacher in the 1990s and also at El Pueblo Learning Center.

"Throughout her life she has cared for many people and loved having her kids and grandkids around. She was a sweet and giving person with a great sense of humor," said her family. "She was a devoted Christian and always loved sharing her faith with people. We will all miss her very much." They said she left behind family and friends to mourn.

She was preceded in death by her daughters, Elizabeth Manuel, Deanna Gonzalez, and Judith Hillier; and by her former husband David Manuel.

Surviving are her daughters Margaret Wilkins, Jennifer Manuel, and Yvonne Ybarra; her son Michael Manuel; her sister Marlene Nogales; her 17 grandchildren; her 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 433 W. Lerdo Rd. in Tucson. Her remains will be buried next to her mother Sarah Pablo Azul and father Jose Antone Azul at the Ajo Cemetery on Sunday, October 18, at 10 a.m.
