Harvey Sylvester Cordill, 71, of the Fork Ridge section of Raven, died Saturday at his home. Born in Tazewell County, Va., he was a son of the late John Henry and Rachel Stilwell Cordill. He was a lifelong resident of the Raven area, and was a retired miner. He was a member of the Mountain Top Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Lawrence Cordill.
Survivors: wife, Ida Charles Cordill; daughters, Mrs. Danny (Hazel) Sullivan and Mrs. Tolley (Nancy) Ball, both of Raven, and Mrs. Dallas (Janie) Stilwell of Richlands, Va.; sons, Lawrence Cordill, William Cordill, David Cordill and Robert Cordill, all of Raven, Gary Cordill of the home, and Earl Cordill of Pounding Mill, Va.; sister, Mrs. Willie (Sadie) Absher of Richlands; half-sister, Mrs. Jay (Laura) Stilwell of Richlands, Mrs. Opal Absher of Cedar Bluff, Va., and Mrs. George (Elmer) Absher of Hickory, N.C.; brother, Marvin Cordill of Baptist Valley, Va.; half-brother, Raymond Absher of Shortt Gap, Va.; eighteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, with the Rev. Jimmy Richardson and the Rev. Charlie Absher officiating. Burial will follow at the Cordill Family Cemetery on Fork Ridge, near Raven.
