Sadie Absher, age 97, of Cedar Bluff, VA passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at her home. She was born August 12, 1920 and was the daughter of the late John Cordill and Rachel Stilwell Cordill. She was a member of the Hill Creek Holiness Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Absher; three sons, Melvin Absher, Darrell Absher, and Billy Absher; three daughters-in-law, Bertina Absher, Ruby Absher, and Debbie Absher; two sons-in-law, J.U. Brown and Ervin Grimmett; two grandchildren, Billie Sue Absher and Amanda Woods; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Marvin Cordill, Harvey Cordill, and Raymond Absher; two sisters, Alma Absher and Opal Absher.
Mrs. Absher is survived by five daughters, Duilla (Peggy) Brown of Raven, VA, Carol Roberts and husband Rodney of Wytheville, VA, Shirley Richardson and husband Jim of Swords Creek, VA, Judy Helbert and husband Junior of Richlands, VA, and Debbie Grimmett of Cedar Bluff, VA; one son, Jimmy Absher of Cedar Bluff, VA; one sister, Laura Stilwell of Richlands, VA; two daughters-in-laws, Bonnie Absher and Brenda Absher; 21 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive. Special thanks to caregiver, Betty Cole, Richlands Home Health Care, Legacy Hospice, Susie Keen and Flo Overbay.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, VA. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, VA with Bro. Jim Richardson, Bro. J.P. Richardson, and Bro. Matthew Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Legacy Hospice, 1963 Second Street, Richlands, VA 24641.
