Amelia Shannon passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, at the age of 101. The daughter of John Anthony Grasso and Florence Heinemann Grasso, she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Henry Cole Shannon. Amelia was also preceded in death by her sisters Violet, Clorinda, Flora, Gloria, and Betty, and brothers John, Arthur, Richard and Fred. Amelia is survived by her daughters Anita Heiston, Kathy Snuffer, Carol Courey, Susan Shannon, son Art Shannon, her thirteen grandchildren, Kimmie, Cheryl, David, Cullen, Jonas, Shannon, Eli, Micah, Jillian, Taryn, Mika, Patrick, and Coby, plus twelve great grandchildren Joey, Jacob, Maddox, Deacon, Layla, Maleek, Sofi, Zelda, Blake, Brody, Mojo, and Elena.

Amelia started work for the United States government at the Navy Yard in D.C. on December 8th, 1941, the day after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She retired 42 years later after a long career as a courtroom clerk at the District Courthouse for Judge Robinson.

Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 11, 2023, in the chapel at Gate of Heaven cemetery. It is located at 13801 Georgia Ave, Silver Spring, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in honor of Amelia Shannon to Season's Hospice Foundation, 8537 Solution Center, Chicago, IL 60677-8005.
