L. Doris Thacker, 85, of Enon, passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2023. She was born on November 29th, 1937 in Russell County, Virginia to the late Virgil and Effie (Taylor) Whited. In 1975, she married the love of her life, John Thacker and they enjoyed 47 wonderful years together. Doris was a homemaker and loved nothing more than caring for her family. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting. Doris was preceded in death by her loving parents; two sisters: Beatrice Provosto and Lillian Coulson; two brothers: Harold Whited and Kenneth Whited; and a beloved son, Michael S. Kanney. She is survived by her devoted husband, John Thacker of Enon; three daughters: Cindy (James) Spitler of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Janet (Kenny) Hopper of Springfield, OH and Marsha (Sam) of Speedwell, Tennessee; three sons: John (Rebecca) Thacker of Ladera Ranch, California, David (Jackie) Thacker of Thomasville, Georgia, and Jimmy (Debby) Thacker of West Virginia; a brother, Charles Whited; three sisters: Juanita , Patty, and Denise: twelve grandchildren: Amy, Jay, Janna, Allen, Caren, Crystal, Tiffany, Nathan, Ian, Bailey, Ryan, and Colin; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends who will miss Doris profoundly. A funeral service is planned for Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Adkins Funeral Home, Enon, with Minister Don Young officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service in Enon Cemetery. Friends and Family may also pay their respects during a visitation from 9:00-10:00 AM that morning, prior to the service.
