Shirley was born September 21, 1930 in Bountiful Utah to Ernest and Sarah Pearson. A native of Utah, she enjoyed the last 25 years of her life on the green and fragrant windward side of Oahu. A truly creative person she was a gifted artist who enjoyed painting and many other arts and crafts. Her most recent work included peaceful visions of the ocean and islands created with the delicate bark of an island tree. She was an award winning floral designer. While in Utah she and her husband Ronald Kalt operated the Pearson Floral Co. The most important thing in her life was her best friend, sweetheart and loving companion of 52 years, Ron. They were married April 7, 1956, and were sealed in the LDS Hawaii Temple on March 6, 1998. She was a wonderful wife, a truly dedicated mother and grandmother. She was especially close to her four daughters, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren who often spent time with her in Kaneohe.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Ronald N. Kalt, her four daughters: LeeAnn (Mrs. Louis Whatcott, Salt Lake City; Brigette Tartaro (Bristol, RI), Lydia and Stephanie Kalt (Kaneohe, HI); seven grandchildren: Christopher and Dominic Tartaro, Salt Lake; Emilia Tartaro and Olivia Ching, Bristol, RI; and three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Adele Fife, Sacramento, CA, and Linnea Gustafson, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Sarah Pearson, and three older brothers.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday March 1, 2008 at the Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary Chapel, located at 2350 East 1300 South. Viewing prior to Service at 10 a.m., followed by the Service at 11 a.m.
Interment will take place in Latona Park at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 Highland Drive.
