Virginia Marie (Grimes) Burleson, Age 89, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 after a brief illness.

A service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, at 1:00 pm at Johnson Funeral Home at 435 W Beauregard Ave in San Angelo after which all are welcomed to attend the burial in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

Virginia was born on Wednesday, January 10, 1934 in Sweetwater, Texas to parents T.J. and Alice Marie (Pace) Grimes.

She attended schools in San Angelo.

While living in San Angelo, she met James Keith Burleson and was married on November 13, 1950, a loving relationship that lasted 53 years until James passed on in 2003.

Virginia was a very kind and loving person with many talents. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, cooking, camping and fishing.

After retiring from the Ethicon Company in San Angelo where she worked for twenty year, she and James become Foster Parents to many children. Always a generous person, she loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. Her favorite flower was the rose and had many rose bushes at her home. Her favorite color was purple and enjoyed Christmas which was her favorite holiday.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband James, her daughter Nancy Marie (Burleson) Mortenson, and her brother Donald Grimes.

Surviving family members include her brother Thurman Grimes and his wife Ann, and her sister Janie (Grimes) Malloy and her husband Andy, her son Glen Ray Burleson and his wife Linda, and her son-in-law Gary Mortenson. She was blessed with her grandchildren Travis Burleson and his wife Joanna, Breanna Burleson-Smith and her husband Kenneth, Samantha (Mortenson) Braun, Sebastian Mortenson, and Peyton (Mortenson) Sawyer along with many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
