Marji was born January 23, 1931, in Wilcox, Nebraska, to parents Gustva and Anna Bebensee. She had five siblings, brothers Bertus and Ralph Bebensee, both deceased, and sisters, Lucille Evers, her identical twin, Mildred, (Mikki), both deceased, and her sister Anna Lee, currently residing in Colorado. Marji married Laverne Scheihing, who was in the Air Force at the time, and were stationed at Wiesbaden, Germany. The couple had three children together, sons, Randy Scheihing, Steve Scheihing, and daughter, Melody Scheihing, all of the Denver, CO area. After the children left home, Marji was remarried to Dale Steinkruger of Nebraska, who had four children, sons, Doug and Tim Steinkruger, now both deceased, and daughters Cindy Lisko of Columbus, Nebraska, and Denise Nelson, of Minnesota.

Marji was a very loving and giving person and excelled in everything she did. With her background of volunteering during her summers at Bethpage Mission, in Axtel, Nebraska, she established herself at the Department of Army at Fitzsimmons Medical Center and was recognized on several occasions for her outstanding accomplishments. She was honored by her development of the Patient Assistance Program which became the model for other military bases. Soon after retiring she went to the Kaiser Permanente center in St. Joseph Hospital where she loved her work in the emergency triage. Throughout her career, she also worked doing taxes, evenings and weekends.

Marji was deeply involved with her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and she celebrated her faith for many years at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Bible studies and volunteering for a variety of committees. She was always very active with her family. She is survived by her five children, eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
