SUMMARY

John Frogg III was born on May 26, 1745 to John Frogg II and Elizabeth Strother in Prince William County, Virginia. John took up the trade of carpenter and saddler and married his cousin, Agatha Lewis, daughter of Thomas Lewis and Jane Strother. Jane Strother's sister, Elizabeth married John Frogg Senior. A third sister, Agatha Strother married John Madison, uncle to the future President, James Madison.

In 1773, John and Agatha Frogg moved to the Town of Staunton in Augusta County, Virginia. In late 1774 John Frogg enlisted as a sutler to the Virginia Militia against cornstalk and was killed at the Battle of Point Pleasant leaving one daughter, Elizabeth Frogg. and one son, Charles A. Stewart
