Vera Allen, 92, of Bellmead, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008, at a local nursing home. Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at Bellmead Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Dunkin officiating. Burial will be at Olive Branch Cemetery near Leroy. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday Feb. 29, at the funeral home.
Vera was born in Elm Mott, Texas, to the late George Nolan and Elizabeth V. (Walker) Alderson. She married Joe Bailey Allen on Oct. 1, 1933, was a member of Bellmead First Baptist Church, the Bellmead Rebekah Lodge and was very active in the Senior Citizens and Meals on Wheels ministry.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Nola Mae Norton; and brother, Buddy Alderson.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty Coneway; grandchildren, Jonna Anderson and husband, Eric, and Jason Coneway and wife, Sara, and Pete Coneway; sister, Geneva Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
