Glenn Bumgarner Jr., 76, of the Qualla Community died on Friday morning, January 27th, 2023 at Harris Regional Hospital.

He was the son of the late Glenn Bumgarner Sr and Lucille Reagan Battle.

He was a lifelong resident of Jackson County and a member of the Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Bumgarner; his Stepfather, Jake Battle; and his Aunt, Maxine Bowles and her husband, Joe.

He was a 1965 Graduate of Sylva Webster High School. He retired from Waldensian Bakeries as a Delivery driver in Cherokee. He was affectionately known by most as "Doodle" and "the Breadman".

After retiring, he spent most of his time at home. He was an avid fisherman, master fly tyer and gardener. He was most happy when working around his property with his family.

He is survived by his dear companion Carla Ballew of Whittier; his daughter Paula Jarvenpaa and her husband, Steven of Westminister, MA; his son Jeff Bumgarner and his wife Mary of Whittier; grandchildren, Alex and Hollie Waugh, McKae, Mabry, and Mary Emelyn Bumgarner; sister, Cindy Watkins and husband Archie and their children Amy Parker and Melissa Watkins; and cousin Judy Pettinelli and her husband, Vince of Naples, Florida; and great nieces, Reagan Beck and Faith Parker.

Graveside Services will be held at 3pm Sunday, January 27th 2023 at Reagan Cemetery in Whittier.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shoal Creek Church, 184 Shoal Creek Church Loop, Whittier, NC 28789.
