Cornelia Young Alford, 77, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday February 24, 2021. She was born in Johnston County the daughter of the late Vurdie Mae Johnson Young and Walter Clyde Young.

Cornelia was a loving wife to Joe, a wonderful mom to her children, and the best Nana to her grandkids and great grandchildren. Her work ethic was evident in her career that lasted until the age of 72. She loved working in her garden with the flowers and her favorite was caring for her hummingbirds, who came to visit often and in great numbers. She was most joyful with her family at Christmas time dancing, cooking, and being Santa; to her grandkids Nana was synonymous with Christmas. In her last few years she spent her days connecting with everyone through her Ipad, many times knowing more about all her kids and grandkids friends than they did. She had a way of remembering people, stories, and events with great detail from her early childhood and up to her last days - people were important to her.

A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon March 1, 2021 in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Pritchett officiating. Inurnment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Zebulon.

She is preceded in death by her sister Annie Mae Jones.
