Longtime Anchorage resident Florence L. Pointer, 76, died March 9 at home. A visitation was held at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel. A memorial service was held at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Hallack Greider officiating. Burial was at a later date at Angelus Memorial Park.

Mrs. Pointer was born April 18, 1916, in Shickley, Neb. She had lived in Anchorage since 1956. She earned a bachelor's degree in education and worked for the Anchorage School District until 1964. She then started Mrs. Pointer's Preschool which she taught until retiring in 1988. She was happiest when she was working with children and retired only after losing her health. Mrs. Pointer was active in the First Presbyterian Church and was superintendent of their Sunday school.

She is survived by her son, Vaughn of Anchor Point; her brother, Lenard Lichti of Hesston, Kan.; her sister, Goldie Lichti of Anchorage; her grandsons, Randell, James and Raymond, all of Anchorage, and David of Anchor Point; and her granddaughter, Amber of Anchor Point.
