Ida May McCumber was born February 14, 1881 in Little Grant, Iowa. At two years of age, she moved with her family to Simpson, Nebraska, and later to a log cabin near Brocksburg, Nebraska.
Goerge E. McCumber and Ida Irish were married in Boyd County in 1897. The lived east of Jamison until 1908 when they moved to a ranch six miles south of Jamision near Brocksburg where George E. later built a general store. Mrs. McCumber moved to Burke, South Dakota in January 1969.
Eight children were born to this union. She is surved by four children: Ira E. McCumber, Burke, SD; Beula McCumber, Burke; Stella Naughton, Winner, SD; Dale McCumber, Omaha, NE. One daughter died in infancy and one died in 1936. Two died in 1958 and 1964. Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Grace Campbell, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Esta Felton, Washington State,; Mrs. Rose Hall, Twin Falls, Idaho; three brothers, Harold Irish, Park Rapids, Michigan; Jess Irish, Sturgis, South Dakota; and Earl Irish, Bassett, Nebraska.
