Harley Ray McCumber was born to G.E. and Ida McCumber at Brocksburg, Nebraska, March 25, 1910, and died September 29, 1964, at the age of 54 years, 6 months and 4 days.
His entire life was spent at the ranch at Brocksburg. He died enroute to the Burke Hospital following a heart attack.
Harley attended grade school at Brocksburg and graduated from Keya Paha County High School in Springview in 1931. He was an outstanding player in the sports he loved, baseball, football and track.
He was united in marriage to Marie E. Wilcox of Stuart at Elko, Nevada, May 24, 1949. To this union seven children were born, Elaine Marie, Rhonda Mae, Rodney Jay, Janet Jean, Timothy Lee, Myra Sue and Daniel Jay.
Survivors are his wife, Marie; daughters, Elaine, Rhonda, Janet and Myra; sons Rodney, Timothy and Daniel; mother Ida; two brothers, Ira E. at home and Dale E. of Omaha; two sisters Beulah, at home and Stella Naughton, Winner, South Dakota; and many other relatives.
Preceding him in death were his father, G.E. McCumber; brother Jay; and two sisters, Helen Beckers and Lois Marie, who died in infancy.
