When he was 7 years old, he moved, with his parents to Paris, Edgar Co. Illnois. Here he grew into manhood.
He married on 1 Dec 1874, in Illinois, Virginia EUBANK, daughter of James Moss Taylor & Mary Ann McCOY_EUBANK, of Kenton Co. Kentucky. The EUBANKs owned a farm adjoining the farm of Thomas & Esther ROTH.
In 1879, Jonas & Virgina [along with Jonas' brother Albert Maywood & Louisa EUBANK (Virginia's sister) and Virginia's brother, Cyrus Richard EUBANK & his wife Jenny] moved to Nebraska, taking up their homestead claim 5 miles west of Comstock, Custer Co. They resided in a sod home until 1891.
Jonas became a member of the Baptist Church in Coburg, in 1893.
They moved to Missouri in 1907, stayed for 5 years and returned to their Nebraska homestead in 1912.
They are both buried in the Douglas Grove Cemetery in Comstock.
